District Happenings After Severe Storms Hit Apple Harvest
In late August a powerful storm damaged orchards across the district. Ninga town was devastated with flooding and widespread crop losses, while Killarney and a nearby Hutterite Colony suffered substantial damage to trees, sheds, and equipment. Yet the author notes relief in avoiding further damage at the International Peace Garden and reports Alvin's Goodland apple tree yielded a large harvest with 71 bags of peeled apples, 13 tubs of applesauce, and a generous gift of apples to a friend.
