Hamiota group pursues plant to clean farm chemical containers

A local group in Hamiota plans a decontamination facility to clean and recycle farm chemical containers for Manitoba, using a closed loop system with minimal waste. The project would employ 6 to 10 workers initially, with 5 to 10 more if a plastics reuse plant is built, and seeks federal Western Diversification Fund support.

ICG price increase decision by Manitoba Public Utilities Board

WINNIPEG The Public Utilities Board of Manitoba issued its decision last week on ICG Utilities Manitoba Ltd to raise natural gas rates. Hearings occurred in June in Winnipeg and Brandon. The board notes the company cannot disconnect non paying customers now and recommends legislative authority to disconnect for inhabited residences from May 15 to October.

Hamiota Art Club Plans Fall Session Instructors Named

The Hamiota Art Club held its annual fall meeting on August 22 1990 to map activities for the fall. Instructors Winona Wotton Pat Yarema and Dorcas Batement will teach oils and watercolors with the first class September 27 at 1 00 p m in the Hamiota Collegiate library. Hamiota Chapter of TOPS announces its fourth year starting in September with an Open House on Wednesday September 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hamiota Health Centre basement north door. The event invites anyone interested in weight loss to attend.

Knight Family Reunion At Hamiota Fairgrounds 1990

The Knight family gathered at the Hamiota Fairgrounds for a long weekend to honor the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Knight. Ninety members attended traveling from Tennessee Edmonton Calgary Winnipeg Virden Minnedosa Stonewall Bar Falls Prince Albert Regina Saskatoon Rocky Mountain House Brandon Lenore. They shared three meals daily with Village Cafe catering suppers and enjoyed ball games swimming golfing bean bag and volleyball around the campfire. Thanks were extended to Ron Gordon Rick and Dale for organizing.

Volunteer Night at Hamiota Pool Shines Thanks to Gwen Snell

Recreation Director Gwen Snell reports a successful volunteer night at the Hamiota Swimming Pool. Volunteers provided time and talent to repair items, enjoy relays and swimming, and participate in a grass volleyball activity during a pot luck supper. Staff praised the year’s instructional programs and thanked absentees for their support.
