The annual meeting of the W. I. will be held at the home of Mrs. Lloyd McConnell on Thursday, November 8 at 2 p.m. The W. A. realized $165.00 at the fowl supper. Jet Stove Polish advertises a cleaner for hot stoves with no black finish. The M. C. C. Schools in Winnipeg offer Grade XI or XII departmental examinations.
Hon. W C Miller announces there will be no school holiday for Remembrance Day in Manitoba this year. Schools should observe the occasion with appropriate programs on Friday afternoon November 9 1951, the Education Minister said.
Mona Robertson, a bride-elect, was honored at a bridal shower hosted by Mrs. W. W. Cochran in Oak River on October 26. A corsage, seating by hostesses, gift wagon drawn by two nieces, thanks from Mona, and a luncheon for about forty guests followed.
The OARNER community holds an anniversary service on Sunday November 4 at 5 p m with Rev Saunders of Winnipeg as guest speaker A fowl supper and program follow on Wednesday November 7 at 5 30 p m Admission 75 cents for adults 35 cents for children. A mother and daughter tea was hosted in the school last Friday by sewing groups led by Mrs E Hannon with second year students and mothers from Hamiota attending a short program and lunch. Mr and Mrs Knight planned visits to Winnipeg then Gallatin Tennessee for the winter with their son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs J Womack. A large Oakner contingent traveled to Rivers on Sunday to see the Royal Couple.
