Town council urged to fund new street lamps at key corners or negotiate with local merchants who already have lamps to light streets every night. Proposal aims to eliminate long dark stretches and improve nighttime safety and appearance.
Hamiota council notes minutes from prior meeting, approves finance payments including Manitoba Hardware and Lumber Co for 144.10 and others. Cites offers on bonds, accepts 7.5 percent debentures terms, passes By-law No 11 for current year rates totaling 17 mills, then adjourns to Oct 23.
Mary Ann Reynolds Beamish aged 85 died at her son R W Beamish’s home after a long life of pioneering in Ontario and Manitoba She was born in 1819 in Tipperary Ireland and traveled to Canada with her parents They later moved to Victoria County Ontario Grey County Manitoba and finally settled east of Hamiota Her funeral was in the Methodist Church and she leaves 7 sons 5 daughters 40 grandchildren 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren She supported the Methodist Church and was known as Grandma Beamish.
