Christ Church Hamiota notes no service on Sunday November 1 1942 and offers a prayer suggested by the Archbishop of Canterbury. The prayer asks for blessing and steadfastness for the country and all who serve, to uphold through difficulties and to establish peace and goodwill through Jesus Christ.
The Hamiota United Church announces an 11 a.m. morning service with a 12 15 church school start for the fall and a 7 p.m. evening service. The notice outlines weekly worship times for the congregation and highlights the new church school opening.
London Ontario observes a birthday tribute to Mrs Margaret McIntosh born Edinburgh October 26 1855 and Mr Charles Hogeland born Wallace October 30 1856 identified as 1882 pioneers.
Mrs J T Venables widow of former Hamiota watchmaker and jeweller died in Victoria British Columbia on Sunday October 25 at age 96 or near 97. She leaves four sons and four daughters including Fred Charles Evan Alfred Rose Brammell Maud and Ida. Funeral held in Victoria today.
Sadie Brethour King wife of Fletcher King died suddenly at home on Sunday night October 25 at age 50. Survived by husband daughter Merle father R W Brethour brother Arthur Brethour and sister Mrs Geo Cave. Funeral Tuesday October 27 from residence to Hamiota Cemetery conducted by Rev W M Turnbull.
The Lavinia anniversary service Sunday evening drew a large crowd with Rev Reynolds of Cardale as guest speaker. The Lavinia Fowl Supper is set for Tuesday November 10 with admission 50c and children 12 and under 25c. Wilma Cochrane of Camp Shilo visited relatives, and sympathy is offered to Mrs R W Cochrane on the death of her mother Mrs E Rea of Peterboro Ontario at 94.
Ellis Grenek driving a car that went off the main highway and fell 50 to 60 feet near the C P R track. Mrs Joseph B Metcalf Victoria Mrs Ellis Grenek Victoria Mrs Fred Flewell Streametown Alta and Donald Metcalf were hospitalized with injuries while Ellis Grenek escaped uninjured. Donald was wedged between the frame and door as the vehicle stopped.
