Walter Weir Addresses Hamiota PC Meeting

Obituary for Peter Cartney and Manitoba Civic Notes

Peter Cartney died October 15 in Hamiota hospital after a long illness. Born July 9 1877 in Bogside Bracklamore near Newpitsligo Scotland he emigrated to Canada in 1913. Survived by four children and 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, wife Sinclair Pickard and two daughters predeceased him. Funeral was October 18 conducted by C Hunt of Brandon with pallbearers from local towns. The report also highlights Manitoba government loan programs, Savings Bonds, penal reforms, and praise for Premier Duff Roblin from local MLA Barry Strickland and party colleagues.
