Fatal threshing accident claimed life near Shoal Lake
A worker riding the tongue of a separator fell off as the machine moved from one farm to another. The front wheel ran over his head, killing him instantly. He was a married man about 40, living north of Shoal Lake. Coroner Kirk of Oak River led a jury that ruled accidental death.

Oak River School Burned to Ground at Dawn
The Oak River four room brick veneer central school, completed last spring, burned early Wednesday morning. Students alerted teachers after smoke appeared from basement windows. villagers arrived with no fire apparatus, and the building was a total loss. The furnace origin is suspected, with a cost near $12 000 and insurance around $8000.
