World Wheat Survey Highlights Seed Quality Impact 1940

The World Wheat report details the Crop Testing Plan analyzing over 13 000 wheat samples in summer 1940. About 5 000 samples were C or mixtures, signaling low yield and poor grade. Elevator agents persuaded roughly 41 percent of O and Mixture farmers to switch to certified seed, improving crops and world market quality. Factors raising prices include broader Roasia fighting, scarcity in Italy, rationing, and poor harvests in Western Canada. Prices lower due to UK deliveries above prewar, Spain 1941 output, and favorable European weather for fall farming.
