Birtle delegates present at BRSD meeting approve bus purchase
Fourteen Birtle residents including the Elementary Early Years Team presented to the Birdtail River School Division board on September 27. The board approved buying a used 1986 66 passenger bus from Prairie Spirit School Division for 1200 using surplus funds and agreed to place fuel tanks on BRSD property at 1367 Queens Avenue via W E Bicknell Ltd. New hires include Murray Knight as full time bus driver for the Hamiota catchment effective August 30 2000 and Andrea Fortune for Strathclair catchment effective September 28 2000. Additional staff changes include a .50 mechanic helper from October 2 to November 28 2000 an extra .25 Educational Assistant at Shoal Lake School effective October 2 2000 and a six hour per day Educational Assistant at Strathclair Community School effective September 25 2000. The CEO and one trustee will attend the MASS Conference November 15-17 with expenses approved. The shared Social Worker position between Child and Family Services and BRSD will be suspended for 2000/2001. A Board Administration Workshop planning committee will be formed with principals board and administration representation.
