The Village of Hamiota repainted street dividing lines and RCMP will increase enforcement of cross solid lines. Manitoba Highway Traffic Act Section 110 bans crossing a solid line to change lanes unless turning left to access a private road. Fines are $53 per offence and motorists are urged to signal and drive with caution.
In the Futures in Business course Grade 9 students at Hamiota learn core economic and business concepts through Rural Junior Achievement Project Business. Local volunteers from Meighen Haddad, Royal Bank, Credit Union and other enterprises teach topics like money banking consumer roles and career exploration over two weeks per topic.
The Hamiota and District Sports Complex kitchen generated over 30000 in revenue last year and relies on volunteers to operate. The board urges all nine user groups to appoint representatives and for members to volunteer when asked, noting leadership gaps and the need for a chairperson to keep operations running.
