In memoriam for our mother and grandmother dated October 11 1953 notes remembrance by Lorne Jean John Robert and Lloyd. Mentions visiting relatives and several social notices including a Thank Offering meeting and a large funeral attendance list with thanks from the Smith family.
The September gathering of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Hamiota Branch of the Canadian Legion featured grandmother attendees, name-tag lapel rosettes, and a program with framed items, a contest, and vocal numbers by Edith-Ann Russell Gwen Doreen Edwards and Muriel Thompson. A rural community film by Murray Zuk and Donald Venables was shown. A donation to the Unitarian Relief Fund was made and plans discussed for the Fall Jamboree and a writer’s project with the W I. The sick committee reported calls and fruit gifts to members. Curtains for the Community Room were approved for purchase.
Lavinia announces a church meeting of the W A and W MS on Wednesday October 13 at 2 p.m. The group thanks local men for helping improve the church basement. Visitors Mr and Mrs Wilson of Gladstone attended a local home.
The Municipality of Hamiota invites sealed tenders for the sale of one large J. J. Taylor safe formerly used in the Municipal Office. Tenders due by 5:00 PM Monday October 11, 1954.
