A duck hunting party from Prandon on the Rosenberger farm near Decker had a fatal incident when a hunter identified as C. A. Campbell discharged his gun. The blast struck Sen. J. Rust in the chest, and he died shortly after. An inquest was held at McConnell's office that evening and adjourned to October 15.
RK. H. Powers announces from the Canadian Passenger Association a low fare for all Canada stations. One way plus one third for round trip. Tickets on sale 12 noon Friday Oct 6 to 2 p.m. Monday Oct 11. Return by midnight Tuesday Oct 12.
Funeral rites were held at United Church Hamiota for Mrs H A McPhaden born 1889 in Bristol England. Rev Barber led the service with Grace Rebekah Lodge and Legion Ladies Auxiliary members present. Interment followed in Hamiota Cemetery with pallbearers named.
Hereby given to the Rural Municipalities of Hania that the general assessment roll and the personal property assessment roll of the Sant Maria ipahityo have been deposited with the Office of the Secretary.

Auctioneer J G McConnell also to sell Samuel Laird's farm stock and implements on Sat Oct 19 starting 12 30 p.m 1 2 miles east of Pope near Hamiota.
Birthday congratulations are extended to Mr WM Atkinson of McConnell Manitoba born October 10 1873 in Whittlesea Cambridge shire England. Mrs Cam Allan of Rochester visited with Mrs WN McIntosh last week. Mr and Mrs Doug Dorsey Winnipeg spent Monday with the McIntosh family. Dean J W G McEwan University of Manitoba will address a dinner meeting on Wednesday October 27 sponsored by the Hamiota Agricultural Society and the Hamiota and District Chamber of Commerce. Everyone is welcome.
Dr F J Greaney of Winnipeg directs the Line Elevators Farm Service seed testing program. Western Canadian farmers are urged to submit 4 to 6 ounce seed samples of wheat oats barley rye and flax for free testing of germination smut weed content purity and mechanical seed injury to ensure better crop results in 1949.

The Lavinia church lists a Thanksgiving service for Sunday October 10 at 7 30 p m. Visitors from Flin Flon Pope Enchant and other towns joined local families for weekend gatherings in Winnipeg Brandon and surrounding areas.
