The McConnell United Church announces anniversary services on Sunday October 16 and a follow up supper and concert on Tuesday October 15 with an 8 o clock supper and program. Admission is four cents.
Murray Partridge directs McConnell Bros to auction by section on his farm NW quarter 16 15 located 7 miles north of Hamiota and 11 miles south of Shoal Lake along No 28 Highway. Sale starts at 1 30 pm with pure bred Aberdeen Angus cattle horses and implements. Also Robert Emerson auction on section 14 15 23 one mile south of McConnell on Monday October 17 stock and implements to be sold at 12 30 pm.
Hamiota United Church marked a successful anniversary with large crowds at Sunday services led by Rev. Samuel Parsons of Brandon and a grand choir performance under Principal Ruttan. A Monday supper followed by Rev. Geo Abernethy’s lecture on Making Good drew local praise. participants included Walter Hunsaker, B Fraser, V Few, and local soloists.

Scotia and Chumah locations show afternoon services and Sunday schools including 1.30 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. start times. Church services at Oakner at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. There is a 2.15 p.m. Sunday School in Chumah and 3.00 p.m. church service.

Mr and Mrs Geo Hinde and their son George left for Flin Flon after visiting Mrs Hind s father J G Stewart for a month. A quiet wedding was held at First Church United in Brandon on September 22 1938 uniting Mabel Vera Stewart daughter of J G Stewart and the late Mrs Stewart of Bamotsa Manitoba with John Craig son of Mr and Mrs Charles Craig of Arrow River Manitoba Reverend F E H James officiated. The couple spent a week in Winnipeg then returned to Arrow River to reside.
The Regular Meeting of Court Hamiota No 867 COF is held in the Orange Hall on the first and third Wednesday each month. Visiting Brethren are welcome and urged to attend.
Sir Edward Beatty GBE KC LLD chairman and president of Canadian Pacific Railway received the freedom of Cranbrook on September 9 at the Pioneer Reunion. Mayor T M Roberts presented a silver tray as Judge G H Thompson swore him in. Director Ross H McMaster of Montreal attended, marking the third such ceremony after Saint John and Vancouver.
