Short selling bogey fades as August futures close quietly
The August wheat futures market ended with little excitement and no price rise, despite persistent claims of heavy short selling to break Winnipeg prices. An exchange inquiry found no large short interest, and the government agency held futures, making a cover rally unlikely as May and July contracts expired tamely. The August session showed a minor late rally but no sign of shorts scrambling to cover.
