Five-point plan to end hallway medicine in Manitoba
Health Minister Dave Chomiak unveiled a five-point plan to end hallway medicine in Manitoba with more than 12 million dollars for bed expansion and system improvements. The plan adds 138 new permanent beds by April 2000 and allows Winnipeg, Brandon, and Thompson to open 100 acute care beds by December 1. It also expands admission and discharge procedures, strengthens prevention and community services, and boosts the provincial home care program and adult day care.
