The Manitoba Winter Games host bids seek centralized or decentralized hosting for 2002 with up to 800 athletes across 12 sports in The Pas regional finals leading to the provincial event. The RCMP tower one mile south of McConnell will transfer to the RM of Hamiota as soon as title is secured by year end. After that, Hamiota will sell the tower to Birdtail River School Division to aid communications with division buses.
NADINE SLIMMON announces Lilac’s Grandparent Program now underway from November through May. Penny Dixon leads 22 grade three students paired with Lilac seniors, meeting monthly with activities. Community members are invited to join evening card games at Park Residence and weekly Thursday church services. Frances and Friends perform November 30. Miniota Grade 3 and 4 students asked the Birdtail River School Division trustees to extend the sidewalk at Miniota School to the crosswalk signs. The Oct. 25 meeting heard the students' government studies presentation as teachers and parents attended. Other items included Kris Delong resigning as Head Custodian at Birtle schools effective Oct 31 2000, Pat Beswatherick hired for a .50 term at Birtle Collegiate from Oct 23 to Dec 22 2000, and Megan Kowalchuk hired for three additional hours daily as Educational Assistant at Strathclair School starting Oct 10.
The Town of Hamiota announces By-Law No 11/2000 to re designate land lying north of Willow Avenue and west of PTH No 21. Areas described as part of the South East Quarter of Section 18, Township 14, Range 23 WPM, north of Plan No 4702 and east of a line 666 feet from PTH No 21.
