Rivers and Neepawa receive Manitoba Provincial Employment Program grants to fund winter projects. Rivers gets 12400 for arena operations library work and site cleanups plus 31 man months through May. Neepawa receives 12000 for demolition of an arena site and elderly housing complex prep along with public works and water records updates totaling about 28 man months. Efforts aim to ease local unemployment and support town services.

At the Crandall Community Centre on October 28 1972 a farewell was held for three families the Robus Hankin and Nankivell households and two absent guests. MC Grant Hyndman oversaw a whist game with prizes earned by Mrs Herb Johnston Mr Ron Coveney Mr Earl Miller and Mr Steve Robus. An address was read for each honored family and gifts presented a bathroom space saver electric can opener and table lamps were given by local residents.
