Talent Night in Hamiota Promises Wide Show of Local Acts
Excitement builds for Friday November 16 as Hamiota Collegiate hosts a Talent Night at 9 pm. Twenty five acts are lined up with more hoped for and posters around town list contestants. Pledges to support acts can be made in advance by Yolande Ranson or during the show by listeners in the audience. CKDM will announce pledge amounts and chosen contestants.

Fund Raising Committee Plans Informational Meeting
The Hamiota and District Sports Complex Fund Raising Committee invites local groups to an informational meeting on Wednesday November 7 in the old rink. U C W Hosts Miniota Fall Event on Gospel Culture and Media
The Miniota UCW hosted a fall event at the Community Centre themed Gospel Culture and Media. Nancy Painter led a workshop on media values from radio to television with group discussions and quizzes. Forty six women attended and the offering supported the Westman Pastoral Institute in Brandon.

Birdtail River Division reinstates regular 50 percent kindergarten time
The Board of the Birdtail River Division voted to reinstate the regular 50 percent kindergarten program in all schools effective November 1 after budget deliberations. Prior funding adjustments reduced class time to 40 percent for small classes of Kenton Miniota Shoal Lake and Strathclair. Trustees cited local economy declining enrollment and uncertain provincial grants as factors but aim to preserve quality education for Birdtail River students.

Pipeline transforms local landscape near Hamiota
Marlene Smith reports that the Trans Canada Pipeline is laying a four foot diameter gas pipe three miles south of the community from Miniota to Oak River. About 300 workers travel from Brandon to the site along Highway 24. Crews began in August with surveying and staking and aim to finish by November restoring ground. A larger pipe is planned for 1991 to 1992.
