Seek Farm Youth for International Exchange

Winnipeg reports call for Canadian youth to work on European Australian and New Zealand farms through the International Agricultural Exchange Association. Last year 212 trainees worked overseas. 300 more could be accepted. Programs run four to twelve months with host families and paid employment. Trainees pay transport. host families compensate with wages. Participants must be 18 to 28 with farming experience. costs vary by country and duration. Six District Projects Get Lottery Funding

Six Manitoba communities win lottery grants totaling 13 435 for upgrades to skating rinks halls and recreation facilities. Cardale rink Lenore community hall Lenore rink West Two Creeks Centre Isabella facilities and Miniota curling rink receive funding under Series VI with provincial grants covering up to 25 percent of project costs.

Assembly President Makes Official Visit HAMIOTA

Mrs Mary Simpson of La Prairie head of the Rebekah Assembly Manitoba visited our lodge in Hamiota welcomed by Noble Grand Verna Reid. She received an Easter basket and corsage from Easter bunnies. Assembly Marshall Edna Miller of Portage accompanied her. District Deputy President Mary Baldwin of Cardale attended her first visit to our lodge. Visitors from Shoal Lake and Foxwarren joined the event.

Manitoba Sport History Soon Bound for Archives

An agreement transfers sport history records from the Manitoba Sports Federation and Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame to the provincial Archives. Signing were Norma Price Jim Trifunov and George Fraser. The Archives Branch will house and protect the material and make it accessible to researchers.

Strathclair Joins South Riding Mountain Planning District

Manitoba approves Rural Municipality of Strathclair joining the South Riding Mountain Planning District. Minister G W J Mercier announced the addition follows approval from existing members. The district, formed under the Planning Act effective January 1, 1976, includes Clanwilliam, Harrison, Erikson, and part of Park near Riding Mountain National Park.

U C W Meeting Notes From Hamiota Park Lodge

The May U C W meeting at Park Lodge Hamiota had 12 members and 4 visitors. Reports included Hospital Auxiliary funds of 1,253.70 and a Memorial Fund thank you, with plans for Kenton to take the cart in May and a June wedding supper in Hamiota.
