Empire Day was observed in the school with a short but creditable program in the two upper rooms. Mabel Ledlow won a fountain pen for best write up, as students performed songs and recitations and club swinging despite limited practice.
Arbitrators in Isabella and Decker approved petitions for school consolidation. Two new consolidated districts will form with specified lands in township ranges. Awards take effect July 1, 1912, praised for fairness. dinner hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Decker marked the close.
OAK RIVER services gain interest with 30 new workers after Mondays appeal. Men’s meeting drew many as Rev. Gilbert spoke on Canada’s Call for Men. a similar service is planned next Sunday with Kellie and further preaching at the Presbyterian church. Ladies and youth activities continue with meetings, rallies, and plans for next week.
The Echo hires Mr. T. B. Brandon, western historical writer, to prepare copy for a forthcoming booklet on Hamiota and surrounding centres. The work will highlight advantages for settlers as Manitoba government and the Million for Manitoba League promote immigration, with inquiries from agents seeking district literature. Citizens are urged to assist Brandon.
