Annual Terry Fox Run Worldwide Event Observed

Recreation director Gwen Snell notes communities from Belgrade to Budapest and York join the 1996 Terry Fox Run. The drive raised 12.5 million in Canada and 3.3 million in 58 nations for cancer research, with beneficiaries accredited by the International Union Against Cancer.

Hamiota council updates 1998 assessment roll and actions

Rural Municipality of Hamiota council met on Tuesday April 8. Tom Instance from the Assessment Branch attended as the Board of Revision reviewed the 1998 assessment roll for part of the meeting and the roll was accepted as amended. The CAO was asked to appoint members for the Economic Development Corporation. The office will close briefly for staff to attend the Municipal Administrators' conference. A chain saw will be purchased and $8 per hour offered to residents for scrub clearance along roads. A life membership in the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will be purchased.
