Death of Arthur J Dixon Shocks Hamiota District

The Echo records the death of Arthur J Dixon a respected district citizen after an accident led to limb amputation. Doctors from Brandon failed to save him as his strength waned and he died around eleven tonight. He served the community a devoted husband father and church member and funeral services were held at Hamota Cemetery with widespread condolence.

Leave Property Alone Says Town Officials

Town officials warn residents against taking tools and ladders from the fire hall. Two ladders were kept out overnight last week. They stress that stolen gear could delay fire response and endanger lives, promising prosecution for anyone handling engine gear in the future.

Tag Day Campaign Organizes Three District Captains

A council meeting held Monday afternoon to plan the Tag Day on June 3 arranged town division into three districts each with a Captain and Lieutenant. Mrs W Stevens chaired. Mrs Tennyson named Ross Street and West district Captain, Mrs Ferguson central district Captain, Mrs Stevens east district Captain. Collectors to be appointed to raise funds for the Ninnette Sanitorium.

Tag Day fund-raising up from towns to double expected

Last year receipts totaled 21290.74 with country points collecting more than half. Municipalities raised 11433.50 despite bad weather. This year municipalities are more complete and figures are expected to double. Tag Day will be on June 3rd.

Mrs Walter Maks All

The remains of the late Mrs Walter Marshall reached Stratford California this morning and were accompanied by the deceaser's husband, Mr Marshall, and family. Funeral services were held at the Congregational Church at 10 o clock with Rev W Spencer officiating. The mourners and pallbearers included local relatives and townsfolk in a heartfelt tribute to the deceased.

Tarantula Captures Crowd at Local Store Display

Mr. B. K. McNaught, while standing outside his store used as advertising, chased a large tarantula descending the wall. The venomous spider, one of the largest seen, was surrounded after a tense pursuit ending with its capture. Public interest grew as observers watched the dramatic scene unfold.
