Hamiota Sports Complex gets job creation grant
Ottawa MP Brain White announced in Crossroads that the Hamiota and District Sports Complex Inc will receive a grant under Unemployment Insurance Act provisions. The corrected amount is 122000 plus, funding labour costs for six unemployed workers to complete rink facilities and associated work.

Beulah to Get Individual Line Telephone Service
MTS crews will lay cable in Beulah to replace party lines as the Western Region first to switch to Individual Line Service. The Service for the Future project, a $793 million plan to end multi party lines in Manitoba by 1996, will also expand toll free areas. Ploughing in of 86 kilometers of cable runs May 23 to June 7 with rights-of-way secured from 84 landowners and Birdta Indian Reserve council.

Hamiota Council Considers Paving Survey Results
The Village of Hamiota Council met on May 11 1989 to review a community paving survey. Of 181 responses 145 supported paving and 36 opposed, about 80 percent in favor. The council agreed to advertise and begin paving in the north end in 1989 following proposal 3 with frontage prepayment at 14 dollars per foot.
