Canadian Pacific Crop Report Seeding Progress Hit By Winds
The May 11 crop survey from the Canadian Pacific Railway agricultural department reports high winds and soil drifting delaying seeding across western Canada especially Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Some late week rainfall helped but re seeding remains needed in Manitoba while moisture is adequate in Alberta and the northern regions. Wheat seeding stands at 93 percent in Manitoba, 70 percent in Saskatchewan, 86 percent in Alberta with oats at about 43 percent across the three provinces and barley around 30 percent. Hoppers are observed at several locations with uncertain extent of infestation. Grass growth shows improvement contingent on rain.

Hamiota Board of Trade Reelects Officers for 1934
The Hamiota Board of Trade held a reorganization meeting on Wednesday evening. J H McConnell was reelected president with Dr Hudson as vice president and F H Squibb as secretary treasurer. An annual membership fee of 50 cents was set and monthly meetings scheduled for the first Friday. The village council approved a grant for tourist camp upkeep and the board plans a clean up campaign to improve streets and private grounds. Delegates will be appointed to attend the Western Association of Boards of Trade meeting in Brandon in June.

Local Farmer John Butler Dies at 60
John Harry Butler a well known farmer northwest of town died last night around 6 o clock at his home after falling ill in the field. He was 60 years and 3 months old. Funeral to be held tomorrow Thursday at 2 30 p.m. from Christ Church Hamiota. Northwestern Manitoba Medical Association met in Hamiota last Tuesday with Dr H O McDiarmid Brandon and Dr F W Jackson deputy minister of health addressing the gathering.
