The note states no American Ward Coal will be shipped west of Winnipeg and little will reach Winnipeg. With this, demand for Western Coal will be unusually strong and a summer stockpiling by consumers is urged to avoid a serious future shortage.
Local notices announce May 24 as Victoria Day with a Navy League concert planned next Friday. The town store will close for the holiday and various community members are noted for events from church services to visits from relatives and medical consultations.
A local promotion at Bamiota's Departmental Store offers a gray Dort car as a prize. Shoppers submit estimates on a slip, mail to The Auto Contest Department, The Sun, Brandon, and earn a chance for the prize per dollar spent. Contest runs May 20 through July 20.
