Seventy years of rural work will be marked as the Manitoba Women's Institute holds its annual convention at the International Inn Winnipeg June 11 to 13 1980. Manitoba Hog Producers to Get 4.4 Million Stabilization Payment
Manitoba Agriculture Minister Jim Downey announced 4.4 million in federal stabilization payments to hog producers for 1979, part of about 46 million nationwide. The program pays 2.46 per hundredweight with eligibility up to 5,000 hogs, and requires sales slips and grading certificates. Manitoba accounted for nine percent of Canadian hogs marketed in 1979.
