ACRE Organization Forms To Tackle Rural Environmental Issues
Manitoba establishes the Association for a Clean Rural Environment to research and cooperate with government, industry, and groups on environmental concerns. Chair Bill Galloway says initial focus is safe disposal of chemical containers and broad collaboration with municipalities and stakeholders. The group includes representatives from Manitoba Agriculture, Manitoba Environment, Keystone Agricultural Producers, unions, Crop Protection Institute of Canada, and private citizens. Funding comes from a $1 levy on farm chemical containers.
