Tree planting methods change for stronger, longer lived trees
The Canadian Garden Council urges a six step planting method to avoid root girdling and waterlogging. Choose quality trees, allow space for roots and branches, prepare a shallow bed with soil amendments, place the root ball level with ground, lightly pack soil and remove air pockets, stake if needed and mulch, and consider windbreaks to reduce energy costs.

Parkissimo Lodge Visits and Elkhorn Family Tales
Mrs Sophie Thompson accompanied her daughter Sylvia George to Elkhorn for a family visit with Sylvia's son and daughter, Sophie’s grandchildren. Ivy Collier visited Brandon last week to see her great grandson Micheal Tyhy, recovering slowly after a serious vehicle crash on April 21 near Elkhorn. It is May Day with steady snow under overcast skies, a memory of backward spring and VE Day on May 7, 1945 marking the end of WWII in Europe.
