William Clark Fraser born 1857 near Georgetown Ontario died April 24 1955 in his 98th year at his son Kenneths home Hamiota Manitoba. A longtime community leader he helped plan the first Presbyterian church served as elder school trustee municipal council and Agricultural Society member. Funeral at Hamiota United Church with six grandsons as pallbearers.
The W.A. and W.MLS will hold their meeting at the home of Mrs. Taylor on Wednesday May 11 at 2 p.m. The event invites members to gather for the scheduled session and discussion.
May 23 baseball club dance in McConnell’s Hall with good music. May 21 Atoimah Chapter 47 OES hosts a Silver Tea and sale of home cooking from 3 to 5 p.m. at a local venue.
The Lodge Room in the Orange Hall received thorough cleaning and painting this week. Ceiling and walls were painted blue, the floor sanded and varnished, with costs shared by Rebekah's Eastern Star Odd Fellows Foresters Orange Lodge and Masons.
Evening and afternoon concerts announced for Thursday and Friday at United Church and Theatre. Rivers Orchestra directed by A Whyte to perform in final concert with both sessions listed.
Dr Ed and Dorothy Curll with Ned Curll formed a three person committee to present Ted and Billie Westbrook with a community collection before their West Coast departure. The presentation at the Westbrook home included a scroll bearing well wishers names and Ted thanked the committee and friends for their support.
Last Thursday evening the Ham iota Fire Brigade visited the home of the Chief who is leaving to reside on the West Coast. Ted Westbrook and his wife Billie received an autographed record and a 3 deck Tackle Box as a token from the brigade. Attendees included Jack Heuck George Duchart Johnny Riddell George Baxter Bob Watt Bill Delbadge and ex-fire Chief. absentees Wm McMillan and Pic Caldwell. Billie served a hearty lunch. Several calls followed for firefighting information from guests and Bob Watt entertained with stories.
