The community extends sympathy to the Pearson family in their recent bereavement. Mr. S. M. Kirk left Monday to attend the Grand Orange Lodge at Winnipeg and returned home Saturday night. Mr. Harvey J. Kirk left Tuesday of last week to attend the Grand Orange Lodge at Winnipeg and returned home Saturday night.

Audrey Kutcher underwent an eye operation at Brandon General Hospital and hopes to return home soon. Oak River boys played a hockey game against Oakner or Oakner River, with local youths under twelve participating. Mrs T Pain has returned home from Brandon Hospital. Catherine Brown from Minnedosa visited her parents Mr and Mrs H D Brown for the weekend.

The Isabella play will be presented in Lavinia on Thursday April 8 sponsored by the W A The W A and W M S will hold their meeting at the home of Mrs W A McConnell on Wednesday April 14 at 2 p.m. The Girls Sewing Club will hold Achievement Day in the school on Tuesday April 20 at 2 30 p.m. $161 00 was collected in the Lavinia District for the Red Cross. Mr and Mrs Roy Williams returned home after spending the winter in B C. Mr Keith Bridge returned after his first year at Manitoba University. Mr Robert McWhirter is spending a week at Lenore.

National Bailey Contest to Continue in Manitoba
C T G Bailey of Hamiota notes the National Bailey Contest will be continued with similar regulations to last year. Applications start around July 1. Inter-Provincial competition between Manitoba and Alberta continues, Saskatchewan absent. Manitoba results and prizes will be announced soon with awards on March 30 at Brandon. Last year 733 entries and 208 carloads shipped despite difficult conditions.
