Hamiota High School sports and events roundup

Hamiota reports a busy period with basketball on both junior and senior levels. Junior teams posted mixed results in Rossburn and Hamiota tours, while the senior girls dominated league play, won zones, and prepared for provincials in Rosenort. The senior boys finished 2-13 after a season finale loss to Rossburn. Curling saw a senior boys team go 2-2 at provincials in Dauphin. The district hosted a career symposium, band spice orders arrived, and spring activities including badminton began. Provincial A girls basketball crowned Hamiota champions in Rosenort with decisive wins over Lorette, Russell, and Treherne, led by coach Holden and players Melinda Robertson et al. Junior high also triumphed in A and B divisions. A Check Stop Van toured, graduation preparations advanced, and Safe Grad planning kicked off with committee setup.

Revolting Canadian Mounted Policy

A poem expressing anger at proposed inclusion of Sheiks in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and demanding removal of turbans and daggers. The speaker, a self described peace loving man, argues such symbols clash with the force and questions motives behind the policy. He ridicules ceremonial attire and suggests political manipulation echoes in the protest.
