Manitoba grade 12 math exam draws wide criticism

Education Minister Linda McIntosh backed a flexible scoring option for the January and June 1997 Grade 12 provincial math exams. If the mark raises a student’s final average it counts for 30 percent. if it lowers it, it does not. Protests note the exam’s format, shortened time, and weather absences affected results. Prime concerns focus on fairness, standard measurement, and the exam’s role in final grades.
