Ignorance of finance risks small business growth, says bank official
Jim Harrison of the Federal Development Bank in Brandon warns that lack of knowledge about banking options hurts small firms. He notes fixed and floating rates, flexible terms, and various repayment plans, with the bank offering loans, guarantees, venture capital, and support services to expand or restructure businesses nationwide. He plans regional visits to inform entrepreneurs in Dauphin and nearby towns. The Crown corporation reports 181,000 workers and 8,000 to 10,000 new jobs yearly, with half created outside metropolitan areas.
