Manitoba Land Use Conference Sets March Forum in Winnipeg
About 300 attendees are expected for a two day public forum at the Winnipeg Convention Centre to map Manitoba land use policy for the 1980s. Keynote Gary Runka will discuss expanding needs from a finite resource and long term zoning. Delegates will hear from rural and urban officials, academia, and industry representatives. Registration ranges 30 to 35 dollars and includes sessions and banquet.

Waterfowl Compensation Agreement Signed in Manitoba
Agriculture Minister Jim Downey and Natural Resources Minister Harry J. Enns announced a federal provincial deal to compensate farmers for waterfowl crop losses. The plan covers April 1, 1980 to March 31, 1981 with a Manitoba payout of about 430000 to 328 claimants. Damages are paid up to 50 per acre with half funded by the province and Ottawa.
