A cardiac monitor arrived at Hamida District Hospital in mid January marking the culmination of community projects and gifts. Donations in 1968 totaled 4922 toward the 4060 purchase with 4453 total to the hospital from all sources, supporting renovations, equipment, and patient comforts.

Oak River rink skipped by Jack Hume with Grace Bullock Frank Heyhurst and Donna Hume stayed undefeated through Dauphin provincial play to earn Manitoba representation at the Dominion championships in Kitchener Ontario. They beat Tom Dunlop of Killarney and Pat Pichen before taking the A side and edging Don Barr of Glenboro in a decisive extra end to seal the 8 7 win. The district sends best wishes as they head to Kitchener March 10 14.

Bantams Travel to Thompson in Manitoba Semi Final
Bantam hockey team from Hamiota along with 19 adults and 11 players traveled to Thompson by bus for the Manitoba Semi Finals. The opening game ended 3-0 to Thompson on heavy artificial ice, while the second game finished 3-2 in favor of Thompson with Hamida goals by Dennis Anderson and Dale Brooks.
