The Hamiota Curling Club held a bingo on Thursday June 12 with prizes awarded to numerous players including Betty Thomson Oak River M. Blackwell Harding and Tremaine Thompson. The top prize of 2000.00 went to Mrs Ralph Monteith of Cleveland Ohio. The club thanks supporters and invites them back next year.

Birdtail River School Board Meets to Plan Bus Route and Open Areas
The Birdtail River School Division No. 38 board met in Shoal Lake on June 12 1969 approving May minutes receiving correspondence from local officials and ministries, planning bus routes to Birtle Elementary and St Lazare, funding for Biology labs at Hamiota, and notices to PSFB for a temporary science room open area and staff washrooms. The board also adopted the 5/69 financial statement approved superintendent reports accepted bus tire tender from Esso Foxwarren and By Law 6/69 authorizing interim capital financing for St Lazare addition, plus moving of four temporary units and tender from N and R Moving Rocanville. They congratulated top finishers in the Provincial Track and Field meet and adjourned to June 19 1969.

Ladies Legion Auxiliary Hosts Pot Luck and Meeting
Twenty one members attended the pot luck supper and meeting led by president Mrs Grace Bullock. Mrs M Espey reported one card sent and wreath placed on Mr William Allison's grave. The group raised 113.75 for Salvation Army and plan to cater a forthcoming wedding. Mrs Thelma Argue won the door prize.

Women’s Institute Hamiota Hears Convention Report
The W J Meet HAMIOTA Women’s Institute met Tuesday June 10 for a potluck supper and to hear the Provincial Convention report given by Mrs George Robertson and Mrs Louise Andrew. Twenty six members and visitors attended with $8 81 on hand. $265 55 sent to the Cancer Fund. A box with 140 sewn items 6 heavy sweaters 6 light sweaters 5 organs shipped to the Red Cross. Mrs Nicholls asked that library books be returned by month end. Next meeting planned for September.

Program Launched To Curb Industrial Accidents
Manitoba introduces The Employment Safety Act effective September 15, 1965 and administered by the Workmen's Compensation Board. Regulations require employers and employees to take all reasonable precautions to prevent injuries. Last year Manitoba saw 36,000 industrial accidents, 12,822 lost time, 444 lifelong disabilities, and 51 fatalities with 76 dependants. Cooperation urged to reduce suffering and loss of life.
