Church Camps Seek Long Term Leases in Riding Mountain
A May 26 1972 Ottawa meeting with Jean Chrétien heard representatives of six Church Camps in Riding Mountain National Park push for long term leases beyond 1975. Minister Chrétien tentatively agreed to extend to 1984 and to set camp criteria while exploring expansion options at Camp Manito Clear Lake. An Interdenominational Committee backed by Manitoba delegates urged ongoing support and a future meeting with officials.
