Public notice states the Electors Roll for 1049 is in the Municipal Office and available for thirty days. Complaints may be lodged with the Clerk. The Council will meet as a Court of Revision on Saturday July 6, 1940 at 2.48 p.m. in the Council Chamber Hamiota, to hear complaints.
At a district meeting of Units of the Army and Navy Veterans in Canada at Oak River on May 29, members urged formation of a national government to speed Canada’s war effort through recruiting and munitions production. They called for conscription of manpower weeds and resources and the creation of an armed Volunteer Reserve Force with the RCMP. They also proposed interning all enemy aliens over age 16.

The first annual Calf Club Show took place on June 3 at Oakner with 16 calves entered. Judge Mr. George Tait of Warren, Man, presided. Winners: 1st Lorne Dale, 2nd Hudson Dale, 3rd Wilson Park, 4th Clare Hutchinson, 5th Gordon Brown, 6th Dora Francis, 7th Frank Harrison, 8th Ivan Bray, Hazel Angus, Donald Brown, Jim Park, Jim Brown, Roy Angus, Henry Knudgen, Royce McKinnon, Howard McKinnon. In the judging contest open to youths 10 to 15, winners were 1st Douglas Cameron, 2nd Louis Kulehycki, 3rd Dora Francis.
The judging competition for ages 16 to 20 saw Howard McKinnon win first place, Edwin Ross second, and Frank Hutchinson third. In calf shows Dora Francis took first with Frank Harrison second, while Alex Tunin correctly guessed a 040 pound weight. Joan Nimme of Noranda is visiting relatives over the holidays, joined by the Nimm Habert and Edward Anderson families from Hamilton.
