Hamiota events include Ny al Quality and Rexall Store fair on Friday July 19. notices advertise well drilling contact Wm Sheridan and sale of young pigs via P Cartney. Congratulations to Mr A Carry on 74th birthday. Various visits, weddings, picnics, and theater showings announced with dates in April June and June 11. Contains local business notes and upcoming social functions.
On Sunday June 9 1935 Hamiota United Church observes the tenth anniversary of church union in Canada with Dr T E Lane of Birtle preaching at 11 am and a 12 10 Sunday School. At 7 pm the pastor will paint a picture of two historic dates October 3 1929 and June 10 1925 and children born that year will sing at the evening service. Full attendance expected.
Rev A E Smith A B A presides at Whit Sunday June 9 1935 including 11 30 a m Sunday School and 7 p m Evensong and sermon with Be still then and know that I am God quoted. Note No service June 16 Trinity Sunday due to ordination at St Matthew's Cathedral Brandon.
Hamiota hosts big Sports Day events on Friday July 5 with junior baseball prizes of 140 dollars and softball prizes of 110 dollars plus horseshoes. A grand dance follows at the Hamiota Rink. Norton Bros Sports Ground event on June 22 features horse racing and multiple contests with admission 25 and 15 cents. An electric storm brought heavy rain across the district with Scotia tally 6 to 7 inches over the weekend. Dominion station notes 2.1 inches in town over three days.
A new shipment includes cool dresses in piques crepes and seer sucker in two piece shirt waist and jacket styles for street wear. Bright pastels and white start at 2.95 with white fabric gloves 50 and 55 cents. Also offers Ladies white shoes and Wabasso Prints at 20 cents a yard.
