Hamiota Lions Adopt Highway on Area Route 21
The Hamiota Lions Club with 24 members agreed to a two year contract under Manitoba’s Adopt a Highway program. They will collect garbage along Highway 21 from the junction with Highway 24, eight kilometers north, during May June and September this year and next, beginning with a May 25 work bee. A signage will credit the Lions for their efforts as part of a broader beautification drive to welcome visitors.

Manitoba nurses reach tentative 24 month pact with government
After 45 days of talks Manitoba nurses secure a 24 month agreement that blocks Bill 22 and gains seniority and recall rights in layoffs. A 2 percent pay cut starts June 15 1993 and is restored by December 31 1994. Chair Vera Chernecki calls it best possible under present powers. Ratification votes to be announced June 8.
