Grain Growers Meet Sir Wilfrid at Brandon

Representatives from Grain Growers associations across the province met Sir Wilfrid Laurier in Brandon on Monday to discuss terminal elevators tariff shipping facilities and the Hudson's Bay Railroad. They urged freer world trade including reciprocal free trade in agricultural implements and called for public ownership of terminal elevators. Laurier promised careful consideration of the memorials upon his return to Ottawa.

Hospital's Need Again Realized Through Local Ailments

Three patients were in the hospital last week with injuries from accidents and heat illness. 8S. Issett suffered a compound fracture from a fall at Bray's house. H. Edgerton sustained a severe foot wound while on the Scotia grade but has since returned home. Lochie McLaren, ten, is run down from recent heat, under nurse Esslemont's care.

Census of Canada to be taken next June

The next Census of Canada will be taken on June 1, 1411, recording population data by residence, citizenship, language, occupation, religion, and infirmities. It will include all persons on Jane Ist listed by name with family relation, sex, marital status, birth dates, age, and living arrangements.

The South Shoal Lak County Sunday School convention held at Crandell on July 7 drew 234 attendees. Keynote on knowledge spirituality and mission. officers elected include President Wm. Crop Bulletin Reports Western Crop Struggles in June

The census and statistics office Ottawa reports Western provinces Manitoba Saskatchewan and Alberta show low June rainfall and poor crop averages. Manitoba crops are far below average with droughty winds and moisture loss. Brandon and Morden have the lowest readings while Marquette records higher conditions. Saskatchewan fared better with local showers and favorable reports from Lloydminster Battleford Indian Head and Regina Appelle with wheat at or above normal.

The Narrows site grows popular for a summer reporting gathering with hampers from across the country. J Creemer of Crandell has bought the barber shop and book room from G Strachan and will run the updated business in the old stand. He is an experienced barber promising an up to date shop. Manitoba teachers visiting the old coin arrive on the opposite side of Lie pou. The Pioneer Store advertises in a land office style for men’s suits.
