Milk feeding experiments and Holstein notes from Obio Farmer
The piece reports farmer B Quinn's dairy feeding trial comparing alfalfa and mixed hay with corn and cob meal and bran, noting milk flow declines when alfalfa vanishes and limited recovery with alternative feeds. It also highlights De Kol of Valley Mead as a top Holstein example and discusses buying heifers with records versus first calves for long term milking potential. The narrative includes fiction from a novel excerpt about a police man and a swan, to be continued.
