About 700 people attended the Second Hamiota Pioneer Club Exhibition at the Fair Grounds on June 30 under cloudy skies. The parade featured a steam threshing outfit, bands, decorated bikes, horse riding, and miniature steam displays, with various contests and displays inside the administration building attracting many visitors. The event wrapped with square dancing and a transistor radio prize won by Dean Sim, with organizers planning to improve next year.

McConnell Fat Stock Show Sees Prime Cattle Sale
Seventy three head of high quality cattle sold at the McConnell Fat Stock Show and Sale on Saturday June 30. Grand Champion Steer exhibited by Edwina Killoh of the McConnell Calf Club sold to Oak River Hotel for 31 cents per pound. Reserve Champion Shorthorn Steer owned by Cameron Henry sold to Oak River Quick Freeze for 27½ cents per pound. Other club champions and reserves across McConnell Decker Miniota Oak River and Hereford entries were awarded with weights ranging from 810 to 1010 pounds. Judge was G R Fall of Warren and auctioned by Carl Bradley and Son of Newdale. Inter club results ranked McConnell first among clubs.
