Rev. B. O. Whitfield will lead the Sunday evening service at Christ Church Hamiota on July 17, 1945, at 7 30 p m. All parishioners and neighbors are welcome to attend.
Rev. W. G. Onions leads a morning service at 11 o clock with the topic Upon This Rock. Junior congregation meets during the sermon. All welcome. A Scotia service follows at 3 p.m. inviting families to attend.
Rev. B. T. Parkinson presides at Sunday evening services in the Orange Hall Hamiota with inspiring messages and musical numbers.
Mrs W D McDonald and family from Edmonton arrived to visit her parents Mr and Mrs W H Josey for a few weeks. Mr and Mrs C W Venables returned after visiting daughter and son in law Mr and Mrs Geo Moir in Virden. their niece Jean Moir joined them home for a short visit. Card of Thanks from Hamiota Women's Institute thanks workers on the new Rest Room project. Oak River Fair and Sports Day set for Wednesday July 18 with prizes for Baseball and Mixed Softball tournaments and a note to see bills for details.
Local residents report visits and holidays across Manitoba towns. Names include the Ruttans, Carson, Horne, Wilson, Fraser, Foreman, Hedley, Williams, Allshire, Juckes, Arnold, Delbridge and Tait. Auction days list livestock judging on July 24 and horses on July 25. A baby clinic at the Golf Club House July 25 features Dr Elizabeth Lautsch.
On Monday evening July 16 at our Sales Barn Ham iota we will sell by public auction 25 to 40 head of good young breeding feeding cattle including young cows with calves at foot. Sale starts at 7 30 p.m. Terms cash. Cattle are Shorthorn and Hereford breeding. Jno Fowlie McConnell proprietor.
A farewell gathering at the home of Mrs. Gilroy on Friday evening June 29 honored her as a longtime Hamiota resident and Jamieson’s saleslady. Friends presented a Trilight and money after an address by Mrs. Wm Woods, and Mrs. Gilroy thanked them before departing for Brandon where she will reside.
