ISIS Satellite Program Expands with Four More Probes
Canada’s Defence Research Board and NASA agree on an extended ISIS program after the success of the first scientific satellite. Four additional satellites will be boosted by U.S. rockets between 1965 and 1969, with ALOUETTE B testing higher elliptical orbits and enhanced transmission. RCA Victor of Montreal and De Havilland of Toronto will lead the satellite’s instrumentation design and construction under DRB direction.

ISIS-A satellite project advances Canadian space science
ISIS-A marks the first in a planned series of high powered satellites designed to perform eleven experiments and relay data to a global network of telemetry stations. It includes a data storage module for coverage gaps and aims to measure most ionospheric characteristics simultaneously, expanding Canada’s knowledge of interplanetary space.
