The Hamiota United Church Congregational meeting is set for Tuesday February 3 at 8 p m in the church. Dave Beamish of Star City and his spouse visited his sister and brother in law Bill and Mrs Woods over the weekend. A note to keep February 20 open for the Old Time Fiddler s and Button Accordion Contest and Dance at the Orange Hall Hamiota with 3400 in prizes sponsored by the L O L 1513.
The Women’s Institute of Hamiota will meet in the Rest Room on Tuesday February 3 at 2 30 p m. All women are invited to view the needle point and petit point display directed by Miss O’Neil and Mrs Ivy Sutherland. A raffle will benefit the Children's Hospital.

Murdo Milne visited Winnipeg. Don Brown traveled there last week. Mr Win Watt curled in the Brandon bonspiel. Mrs Win Watt visited her son in law and daughter My and Mrs A Espy at Oak River.
Survey data shows Manitoba flax acreage dominated by Dakota Royal and Redwing in 1949 at 80.4 percent, dropping to 28.7 percent by 1952 as new varieties gain ground. Saskatchewan and Alberta also see changes though less rapid. New licences introduce several varieties Rocket Redwood Shevenne and Marine with varying rust wilt and lodging resistances and maturity. Rocket and Red wood suit southern regions, while Sheyenn and Marine offer earlier yields.
Ratepayers are informed that the Rural Municipality of Hamiota has deposited the General Assessment Roll in the Secretary Treasurer's office and it will be open for inspection until February 7. Those wishing to appeal must lodge complaints with the Secretary Treasurer by February 7. The Council will sit as needed.
