Wheat futures policy hurts prairie farmers, says critic

The piece argues that suspending the Wheat Futures market and fixing a price at $1.25 did not aid farmers. It notes Fort William records show $1.23 on the last trading day and that Chicago futures rose 20 cents since, implying the real price could have been about $1.49 for No. 1 Northern. The author contends prairie growers bear the burden despite claimed benefits to others.
