Canadians urged to buy Canadian made goods to aid workers

The National Production Association says in September Canadians received aid averaging 75 per 10 000, while imports from the United States topped 44 million and the United Kingdom nearly 14 thousand. The group argues buying Canadian produced merchandise could create jobs and reduce reliance on taxes. It cites official statistics from the Dominion government covering the year to October 1987 and lists items like furniture, drugs, meats, and sewing machines as examples of imported goods that could be produced domestically instead.
