Jean Strath widow of the late David Mair died Friday January 17 in her 77th year at her son John Mair s home in town. Born in Huron County Ontario she married in 1881 and lived in Oakburn Viola Dale before moving to Hamiota. Survived by daughter Mrs W A Buchanan Galt Ont and sons John Roy of Hamiota James of Winnipeg. Funeral from her Hamiota home conducted by Rev T D Barnett with interment in Hamiota Cemetery.
News of King George V death reaches the world as he dies at Sandringham after a week of illness. He was 70. the Prince of Wales becomes King Edward VIII. Funeral planned for next Tuesday with a memorial service in Hamiota at 2.30 p.m.
The Anglican Christ Church holds a memorial service for His Late Majesty King George V on January 26 1936 the third Sunday after Epiphany with 11 30 a m worship and a 7 p m Sunday School.
Hamiota United Church led by Rev T D Barnett announces services on Sunday January 26 1936 with the sermon The King is Dead and an evening talk A Young King Mounts the Throne. Music at both services includes hymns favored by the late King and urges loyal congregants to attend.
