Volunteer labor boosts value of Hamiota pool project
The Hamiota pool project valued at 2.1 million with 1.7 million cash cost relies on volunteer efforts estimated to raise overall value by about 20 percent. Volunteers, led by Lorne Dale and Bruce Cochran, contribute to building the 25 meter pool with a diving tank and zero depth entry pool, as contractors Western Recreation and Wheat City Builders complete concrete work and shell construction. The plan foresees grade beams, interior finishing by volunteers, stucco exteriors, fencing, landscaping, and solar heating. Project aims for a June 1, 1998 opening.
